Energy Efficiency Project PDF Print E-mail
South Africa is facing an electricity emergency with a detrimental impact on the South African economy and the population as a whole. Image The purpose of this project is to conduct a Green audit of 10 schools within the boundaries of the Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Municipality and provide recommendations for improvements.  The main purpose of the Green Audit is to help the project partners; Ekurhuleni Municipality, Kulula.com and Indalo Yethu understand what is required to improve the environmental performance of the selected public schools and contribute to sustainable development by providing assistance in implementing the audit recommendations, where possible. In order to achieve this, the partners are looking for a consultant who can help with the Green Audit. In conducting the audit, the consultant must investigate the current status and improvement potential in the following key aspects of greening;

• Water
• Energy
• Biodiversity
• Waste Management

Project Green is a Kulula.com initiative aimed at offsetting the carbon emission from air travel through community based green projects. The Ekurhuleni Municipality and Indalo Yethu have joined Kulula.com on this initiative and make it a public private partnership responding to the World Summit on Sustainable Development, and the Johannesburg Plan of Implementation.

It is a voluntary program that provides consumers with environmental information.
